Ellie And Chris are Engaged!

This past weekend I had the opportunity to photograph my long time friend (we’re talking over 14 years!) Ellie and her fiancé Chris for their engagement photos! This shoot had been a long time in the making and it was one we were both looking forward to for quite some time.

We headed up to Lily Lake, near Estes Park, to capture Ellie and Chris among some great Fall colors. We really weren’t sure what the colors would be like but it was the time that we could both do the shoot. Luckily once we made it to Lily Lake the Fall colors were in full swing! This past weekend I met-up with my sister and her family to take some late Summer portraits. After a bit of research we ended-up going to one of my favorite Denver parks that I used to visit at least once a week, Berkeley Park. I don’t normally do a lot of portraiture so I was pretty happy with the way that these turned-out!

2011 Creede Balloon Festival

I recently spent the Labor Day Weekend in Creede, CO. While there, I attended the first annual Creede Hot Air Balloon Festival and took a few photos while there. This was my first time around Hot Air Balloons and I was very impressed!

Jerod 2011 Spring Snapshots

I recently helped babysit my nephew Jerod and decided to take a few snapshots as sort of a surprise for my sister. These photos are nothing too fancy– I literally just stuck a camera in his face and took photos of him playing without using any extra lighting, backgrounds, outfits, etc. There are plenty of flaws in them, but I think that’s part of the beauty of them.. nothing staged. I hope you enjoy them!

Karting At IMI Motorsports

Today I went to IMI Motorsports in Dacono, CO with a group of co-workers to go karting! Unfortunately I was too tall for my suit and I couldn’t bend my legs enough to get into a kart so I wasn’t able to do it. However I took some of my camera gear with me and got plenty of shots of my co-workers having a blast.

Jerod & Boomer Christmas Portraits

Although I normally shy away from doing portraits, I do take them for friends and family that I know well and usually have a good time doing them. It’s especially nice when I can dig out all of my wireless lighting equipment and put it to good use on subjects other than coffee cups and other uninspiring stationary objects that I use when I practice lighting techniques.

This past weekend I did a portrait session with my new nephew Jerod and their dog Boomer, and am pretty happy with how the photos turned-out! Jerod was a trooper and we got quite a few good photos knocked out before he’d had his fill for the afternoon. Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot:

Henri, Jenny, and Olive

Despite a couple of false starts due to the unpredictable Spring weather in Colorado, I recently took photos of a friend of mine and her family. After doing some location scouting, I proposed we do the shoot at Willow Farm Park in Longmont, CO. The park itself is relatively new yet has a nice stream going through it which provides some nice big trees as a backdrop and plenty of open space for a variety of different scenes to use as a backdrop.

This was my first family portrait session and I couldn’t have had a better family to start with! Without me giving them any instructions upfront, they brought along a blanket to lay on and several toys and props to use which were perfect for the shoot. Olive was a trooper and lasted almost two hours during the shoot. I was really glad to work with them, and as you can see the results are great! I learned a lot from my time with them and had a blast, and really like how the photos turned-out.

It was hard to choose some favorites to post because there are so many great photos, but here are several that I really liked:

2009 Ultimate Music Xperience

The Ultimate Music Xperience (UMX), is an annual, two-day battle of the bands which showcases some of Denver’s best undiscovered musical talent and the freshest emerging bands in the area. Approximately 80 local and solo and group acts will vie for a chance to play at one of the largest musical venues in the state: the 38th Annual CHUN Capitol Hill People’s Fair. The People’s Fair continues to provide an opportunity for homegrown bands to make an impression on the local music scene.

The UMX was again held at Bender’s 13th Ave. Tavern, on March 28 and 29, from 10:00am-6:00pm both days. The UMX is sponsored by Bender’s 13th Ave. Tavern, 99.5 The Mountain, The Onion, Miller Brewing Company and Dog House Music.
